Remote work to stay paired

KayCee1

My remote won't stay pair between power cycles.

I've changed the batteries. I've re-paired the remote using varries methods. It works during the time I'm using it, but after I turn my tv off the remote stops working.

It is possible this could be addressed by https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Chromecast-remote-will-not-turn-on-Chromecast-All-... a firmware update which is slowly being distributed.

I don't know, but I am hopeful. I have a similar problem. More discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/17j5n5l/every_day_i_find_it_necessary_to_disconnect_the...

Hi folks,

Appreciate your help here, @ncr100.

That’s right, @KayCee1. This may not be a remote issue but rather related to the bug that will be included in the patch fix. The bug is about the main Chromecast device not turning back on after not being used for a period of time (rest). In any case where you are experiencing issues with the actual remote, try the following:

  • Remove the batteries and give it a 2 to 3 minute rest.
  • While the batteries are out, press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to fully drain any static power left on the chipset/motherboard of the Chromecast Voice remote, then release the button.
  • Let the remote rest again for 2 to 3 minutes. Take this time to unplug the Chromecast device from power and give it a 1 minute rest before you plug it back in.
  • Test and observe.
  • If it persists, you can factory reset the remote and pair it again.

These steps are only applicable if it's an actual pairing issue with the remote. Let us know how it goes. We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy
