Replacement Remote Will Not Pair

I have purchased a replacement remote for the plug-in Google Chromecast device and it will not pair.  The prompts do not come up on the TV screen. I have tried unplugging the Google Chromecast unit from the power source, and pressing the home and back buttons simultaneously. The light blinks on the remote, but nothing happens.

Hi Leecia,

 

Thanks for getting back to us. All chromecast devices have a reset button. For Chromecast with Google TV, the reset button is located at the back of the device. See the photo below:

Thank you, Jennifer.  I appreciate your time and effort.
I didn't realize that the "back" was where the indicator light is situated and there was a button below it. I contacted a google representative who assisted. The TV and thusly the device are so close to the wall, I could not see and had to feel for the button.

Hi Leecia,

 

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast Voice Remote. 

 

Please try the steps below and let me know how it goes:

 

  1. Replace all batteries at the same time with new ones (1.5 volt AAA batteries not lithium-ion).
  2. Remove the batteries and wait for 5 minutes before putting them back in the Voice Remote.
  3. Factory reset the Chromecast with Google TV and factory reset the Voice Remote.

Hi Jennifer! 

Thank you for your response!

Unfortunately, there is no button on the side of the chromecast device plugged into the TV. So, I have been unable to do the factory reset.  

If I unplug the unit from the TV will that force a reset?
