TIP: Using Chromecasts w. also older (even CRT based) TV Systems

Hi ChromeCast Forum,

I just would like to share with You, my newly learned experience in sourcing also  older (even CRT based) TV systems (like e.g. some of the not so cheap B&O TV Systems etc.) of yours (perhaps standing lonely no more used around  at some deposit roof-rooms etc. at your house?) - to be Sourced from some of your likewise older/now retired / ditched CC Devices laying around.

Thus, if you instead simply feed the (old CC) HDMI A/V Output Signal directly into a simple (but VERY efficient $5,-) std. HDMI=>RCA (Composite) A/V Adapter (supporting BOTH "PAL" and "NTSC" TV Formats!) + possibly an ok usable RCA=>SCART Adapter Block - You'll get a real nice picture and (even Stereo) sound on the elderly (eg. B&O) TV Device!

We're using this CC Setup here - giving NEW LIFE to some of our older, however quite expensive Bang & Olufsen TV Systems etc.

Think it works quite OK, (as our  3 and 4 TV Platform today) and definitely BETTER, than just disposing all that H/W electronics, here in our CO2 Challenged World!

(Reuse wherever you can!)

You can Google / eBay the mentioned Adapters + Cables erc, and get several interesting options.

(Also it seems, that most CC functions works just as "normal" within the solution).

Hi Nike2,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We appreciate you sharing this information here.

We would like to share a disclaimer that it may or may not work, and if it didn’t work after trying what you shared, it doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with the Chromecast devices, especially since they are being used outside their intended output device (non-HDMI technology display or TV).

The Chromecast device utilizes HDMI communication, which means the TV itself should be utilizing HDMI technology.

Thanks,

Kimy
