Use Chromecast Audio as speaker for Chromecast

Turboblaster

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of getting a Chromecast TV for my beamer and am wondering if you can do kind of the same thing as with Alexa Fire TV with the home theater function which let's you connect the stick to a Echo which then can be plugged into a speaker. I have a Chromecast Audio which I use for streaming music to my speaker setup and would like to use that one as the audio output while streaming video on the chromecast.

Thanks for the help!

Daniel

Not possible unfortunately. When casting, Chromecast gets the entire audio and video stream, and there is no feature or setting to route the audio somewhere else. Some users have found success using things such as HDMI splitters, but that wouldn't be supported by Google.

Hey David,

Thanks for the answer, unfortunate to hear, though. I will stick to a bluetooth to aus connection, then. Do you know, if this feature is supposed to be added in the future through updates? I think I read about something like this in one of the thousands of threads on forums.

This has been a feature request as far back as the original Chromecast if memory serves me rightly, so I doubt it unfortunately. This is mostly a user to user community, therefore if this is important to you, I’d encourage you to also send this feedback directly to Google. You will not receive a response, unless Google need more details from you, however the team are still reading the feedback.

Hiya Turboblaster,

Thank you for submitting your feedback! That is the best way to let Google know what features you'd like to see in the future, as the more feedback they receive, the more likely they are to prioritize what features they add. For now, I'll go ahead and lock this thread. Feel free to create a new thread if you have any more questions in the future.

Have a good one!

Best regards,

Jeran
