I saw posts in Reddit dating back 7 years ago bringing this up that volume always maxed out no matter what by default, so immediately thought well such a blatantly obvious stupid bug clearly was resolved probably a few months maybe year tops, can't find absolutely anything, referring to anyway to change not just one particular cast but any cast from being max volume by default and blowing out speakers and eardrums of anyone unfortunate enough to have to or want to use Chromecast,y issue is specifically casting phone to tv is useless for streaming short videos where I have to race to the volume Everytime and get PTSD Everytime I don't have the remote handy, just to save some posts, yes I know u can click on the cast icon on the phone to manually slide the volume over wich is a pain in the butt to do

I can honestly say I have never run into this issue before, so I need to ask about your setup.
When casting, yes it will default to full volume of the Chromecast , but not on the playback device. Ie if my tv is set to a comfortable listening volume, when I cast to it Chromecast will play at 100% of my TVs set volume, which would be the same level as anything else I was watching.
What device are you attempting to cast to, and what is its volume set at?

Everytime I cast from my OnePlus 8 pro phone to my TCL tv, regardless of what either device is set at, it cranks the volume to speaker blowing proportions regardless of what the volume of either device is set at, example if I mute the tv then cast to it, it will play at 100 percent of the TV's volume not a separate Chromecast volume wich wouldn't bother me at all, if it was as u describe it working

Sorry to confirm, it actually raises the set volume on your tv? Or do you leave your tv at full volume and have whatever devices are connected to it set lower ?

Sorry answered your first response not seeing this one, both devices no matter what either volume is set at tv or phone play at max volume regardless of what either one is set at, that's why it's been so maddening, your the first person I've heard that doesn't have that issue casting, so I'm curious what u are doing different 😂

I did a Google search and it seems to affect either Vizio or tcl TVs..but from what I have read there is always a device with a volume control that's causing the issue.
Are any other devices attached to your tv at all? Do you use a soundbar... Etc ? If so remove everything, set tv to normal volume ..try casting.. if volume jumps, there is most likely a setting in the tv menu that is causing this.. Vizio calls it tru volume ..you would disable that setting and it should work fine

Found the below link from a tcl roku tv.. default value setting needs to be adjusted

Was so hoping that would be a fix, sadly mine doesn't have that option, when it said the setting was buried I went out of my way to double check I wasn't missing something, I have the developer options open and everything and there is no such setting, closest thing was automatic audio adjustment sound leveling wich did nothing, still max volume every cast, I have a TCL 55S434 if that helps

Been reading there seems to be a lot of audio issues with these tvs .. some people are saying a factory reset fixed it, and some are saying they had to get a replacement unit from TCL through warranty.
I would suggest the factory reset route first.. then you may have to try contacting TCL. Sorry I couldn't be of more help..will let you know if I see anything else.

God I'm so glad I decided to test on my Sony X900H before factory resetting, yup exact same problem and mind u had an issue where I thought the tv was the culprit (later found out tv completely fine) and went through everything step by step after factory resetting to make sure it was right, yet same problem exists on this significantly newer and more technologically advanced tv as well, so the theory it's the TV's fault and not Google Chromecast itself seems to be less and less likely unless u can think of a reason it's not working on both TV's and maxing out the volume Everytime, I mean clearly not alone I see forums talking about this exact issue dating back a year ago

actually out of curiosity even set up my tv in google home to try to set default values or change anything there, thinking if it was set at 6 percent it would then cast at 6 percent maybe if i left that open, sure enough it literally changed the volume in home from 6 percent volume to 100 percent, this is a pretty massive issue cause even if it where at 90 percent u wouldnt chance damage to both the device your casting to or the person sitting in front of it lol

How he described it is not at all my experience so please do not lock this thread as I've seen forums dating back 7 years now with the same question and zero fix, this clearly effects more then just me, please don't lock this thread

Hey there MYALGICMAN1990,
That is definitely an issue! Let me just ask, what is the firmware version of your Chromecast with Google TV? I went ahead and created a case for you so that a higher tier of support can help you out, you should get an e-mail from them.
You case number is 6-2803000031899, in case you need to contact us regarding that case.
If you had any other questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you for your help on this Ashepherdson!
Best regards,
Jeran
