Seems that some people had this issue last year ( see kappadappa 07-22-2022 ) but for me, it started about three weeks ago. Mornings I arose and called out "OK Google play WNYC" assured the streaming would play and keep playing. We have been listening to the programs this way for about 8 years. But now, the stream drops out after 1 minute. I rebooted the system as well as our internet, but no fix there. Here is what seems different from last year: on my macbook air playing the WNYC streaming app also stops playing after one minute, but if I play the app not on Chrome, but using Duck-Duck-Go it works with interruptions (the public service announcements jump in every minute, but the stream always returns). I have cleared all data on Chrome, but it still does not fix the problem. And yes, I have written to WNYC, but still waiting for an answer, not holding my breath to be honest. And one more odd clue, if I play WNYC App on my Samsung mobile phone using streaming data (not our Wifi) it works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. (ps, my old time radio still works, however!)

Right now it is apparent that the problem is with the chromecast, I would need more details to find out what the problem is.

Is it just WNYC that you are having the problem with?

As far as I know, yes, it's the only app with this issue Clever-Thinking. For example, I can play YouTube off of my computer and broadcast it to the "family room speaker" with no problem. And I can ask google to play a google podcast, and that also works with interruption or abrupt cut-off.

And the WNYC app does work using FireFox, Safari, and with burps on DuckDuckGo, but not Chrome

Different issue, but perhaps related? Today, for the first time, saying "Hey Google, play WNYC FM" results in her saying "I looked for WNYC FM, but it either isn't there or can't be played right now." The stream doesn't start whatsoever. (Also happens with Sirius XM when asking for a particular channel, a request that has worked up until this week).

I had the same issue (I'm in NJ) on my Google Home. Not sure what the hell is going on, but Alexa plays it just fine. When I try "Hey Google, play NPR" It says it'll play WNYC, but nothing happens again.

It definitely has at least something to do with the WNYC app. I have written to them, but so far no answers.

Thank you for helping out on this thread, everyone!
Hey there gsholette,
I'm just checking up on this thread; did you happen to hear back from WNYC app support regarding this issue?
Best regards,
Jeran

Nothing yet, no. Sorry.

It seems to be working now fine, it was just that one day when it occurred for me, but it was bizarre.
04-19-2023 09:38 AM
I will try mine now...

Yep. Totally working as per usual. Also working when I request the same for Sirius XM. It's as if Google forgot how to play 'radio' for a week.

Nope, still cutting out on my my laptop using Chrome engine with the WNYC app, but not on Duck Duck Go.
Still cutting off on the wifi broadcast to Google Home Chromecast also.
Ugh...

Hiya gsholette,
It seems like the radio issues that were occurring with the Google Home seem to have been resolved on the back-end. Are you still having issues with your devices? If so, I would clear out the cached app data on the WNYC app and the Google Home app.
Best regards,
Jeran
