I have 2 Chromecast with Google TV in my house which I'm really happy about and they do the job fine.
However, one issue that is continuously happening is that my wireless interface disables automatically and I thus lose all connection to my services. The only way to restore is going into settings and enabling the WiFi again. Then it could be the device keeps running for several hours but it might as well be that the wifi is disabled just a few seconds after.
I'm having a mesh network in my house where the SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz are using the same name. This to allow client band steering and different mesh functionalities of being able to work. It seems that the Chromecast with Google TV has issues with networks having the same SSID for 2 different bands.
In have created an additional SSID, only on the 5GHz band to connect these devices to and now my connection is stable and never disconnects again so this seems to be the workaround for the issue. However, these devices should be able to work on a network where different bands are using the same SSID name.
I see several reports for the same issue since over a year but this does not seem to get resolved.

I'm not the only one with this isue, this is happening very sporadically and is service impacting and needs a manual intervention of end users to restore. I fail to understand why there is no priority put to this issue by Google.
A company like Google is also selling wireless mesh solutions, you would expect their solution should be compatible with one another.

I just purchased and am having the SAME EXACT ISSUE.
I have no other issues with any of my devices in my household ---
I refuse to downgrade my network just to get this one device to work in a backwards way of configuration!

I am also having the same issue, with a home mesh network based on qualcomm chipsets. There is absolutely no reason that a "class A" device shouldn't be expected to support the current wireless networking protocols and standards.

Hey there Daddoef.
I'm really sorry about the late response, thank you for your patience on this! It sounds like the issue is basically resolved since you created a separate SSID on 5GHz and that works for you. The Chromecast disconnects to the network since the router/mesh determines which bands the devices needs to connect to. The only way to fix this is to separate the two bands with different SSIDs. That is currently the best work-around for mesh networks in particular.
