Youtube app has problems with casting on Chromecast

I'm using a Lenovo Chromebook to cast the Youtube app on to my Chromecast. While individual viedos play without any issues, I run into problems when I put a bunch of videos into my queue and let them play. I run into three main problems:

  1. Instead of displaying the thumbnail and information for the video I'm currently watching on my TV, the app automatically moves to the next video in the queue. The previous video is still playing on my TV and my Google Home app shows that the previous video is still playing.
  2. The play controls in the app do not work when casting videos; the only workaround I have found is to use the Google Home app to control everything instead
  3. The biggest problem by far is that the queue doesn't advance automatically. Ever since the last ChromeOS update, I have had to hop back on my Chromebook and manually select the next video. Otherwise, the current video just plays to the end and then the player goes to the default screen.

What could be causing these issues? my Chromecast is plugged in pretty much all the time, so it gets all of its firmware updates.

Hi karere1s,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We appreciate the details. You mentioned that this happens when casting the YouTube app installed from your Lenovo Chromebook to the Chromecast device. I want to confirm that this is not the https://goo.gle/3e398z7 website from your Google Chrome browser, right? If you can, kindly test with the same approach using another Chromebook. If this is casting via the Google Chrome browser, you can try with another laptop (it doesn’t require a Chromebook). Try to cast using the YouTube app on your smartphone to see if it shows the same behavior. If all these didn’t encounter the issue, then it could be isolated to your Lenovo Chromebook or the YouTube app installed. Try to reinstall the app. If it persists after reinstalling the app, then it could be something on your Chromebook. We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy
