mlb.tv does not work with Chromecast

georges5729

mlb.tv works fine on my android tablet.

I can see the live game.

When I try to screen cast the game using Chromecast on my tv's HDMI slot it shows all of the mlb.tv banner and box score, and even broadcast the sound of the game, except the video box of the game is blacked out.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Apparently, it’s casting. This is more on restrictions by the website. A certain encryption that causes the black out. It triggers when it’s being mirrored/screen cast outside the platform it is intended to play like your phone or laptop. A type of security for Copyright. If you have an app version of this, I suggest you install it and cast it from there. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

My table doesn't have an HDMI port. That is why I chromecast.
I started using my laptop with HDMI port and HDMI cable and solved the problem.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. I’m glad you found a workaround, @georges5729. It would also be helpful if you cast the actual app version instead of mirroring it. Let us know if you still have questions or concerns.

Regards,

Kimy

You can close out this question.

MLB.TV does not work with Chromecast because of Blackout Restrictions.

It's done by design. EOS
