"Stereo only" setting does not work, still outputs surround sound

Hello! We have a Chromecast plugged to a video projector, whose sound output is a cabled stereo system. For the past few weeks I have been unable to stream anything from Disney+ or Amazon Prime with correct sound. Even if the Chromecast settings are set to Stereo only, it still pushes out surround sound without mixing the central channel to stereo, resulting in inaudible dialogue. This was working fine a month ago. How to fix it?

Hi Franskvinna,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. What Chromecast device do you have connected to your projector? If this is a Chromecast with Google TV, you can apply your preferred output via settings. But if this is an older version of Chromecast, then it will automatically relay whatever format of the file that was cast to it as it is. It would all boil down to whether the output device for both video and audio is capable of such output. If your audio system is capable of surround sound, then you may need to make the adjustments from there (lower it down). If it worked before, you can probably refresh the communication for all the involved devices by sequentially rebooting each. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
