volume and mute buttons not working on my Google remote

I have a Samsung Smart TV and a Zvox sound bar. I cannot get the volume button and mute button to work. It does work when I use the TV sound. Ithad worked until I changed internet providers.

I'm having the same issue with my Samsung sound bar and LG TV since the new firmware update 26.0 all functionality of my remote buttons (TV) are inop. Tried full factory restart and now my remote isn't even recognised

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please try to change the Chromecast Voice Remote to use IR instead of HDMI-CEC? If the issue persists, Reset both the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) and Chromecast Voice Remote.

Hi Jennifer,

Ive done a full reset of my Chromecast with GoogleTV (HD) and Chromecast voice remote. Now, when trying to re-pair my remote and set up the buttons it won't even format these to the IR function, it appears to get stuck in a loop and doesn't ask 'did this work' when in the setup of the button screen.

Any other advice or workarounds would be helpful.

Hello SulleyJ,

Thanks for getting back to us. Where is the Chromecast with Google TV plugged into, is it on the TV or on your soundbar? Please plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port and test. Also, check for pending remote software updates. Go to Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Remote update > Continue. The remote may briefly disconnect during the software update. After that, please try to set up the remote buttons again.

Hi Jennifer, this seems to be a bigger issue and not an isolated one as several other threads are now reporting that their remote has stopped functioning with CEC controls.

I have tried a different HDMI port, factory reset both my Google TV and remote and updated the software (firmware 26.0 installed) and no luck. I've tried to set-up the buttons again but as stated previously the system seems to get stuck in a loop and not provide further settings - it seems there is a bug with the CEC controls in firmware 26.0

I haven't done much with it because I did as much as I could think of. Not sure if the problem is with Google TV, my Zvox sound bar, or my Samsung TV??
