Adding Nest Doorbell

mstrlucky74

So I have my goggle home setup. I have nest camera and doorbell installed and they work great.

I just downloaded the nest app but it's asking me the scan the qr code for the doorbell which is already installed.

I mean I could easily uninstall it and acan it but is there another way to add the door bell without scanning the QR code on the back of the doorbell? Thanks.

I was trying to add to the nest app but if I don't need to that's absolutely fine. They are working fine in the home app and would rather use one app. Out of curiosity what is the purpose of the nest app

@mstrlucky74

What exactly are you trying to do? I am guessing that you have a 2nd gen Google Nest camera and doorbell installed in the Google Home app and they are working great, but for some reason you have now downloaded the Google Nest app and for some reason are trying to install your doorbell there.

The 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells (those released starting in Sept. 2021) get installed in the Google Home app and CANNOT be installed in the Google Nest app.

The Google Nest app is still used by the many customers--including us--who have 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells.  And Nest Protects only get installed in the Nest app, as well as two of the three kinds of Nest thermostats.

So what would I need the nest app for? I just signed up for nest aware plus? Where do I go about chewing recred video?

@mstrlucky74

The Google Nest app is used for 1st gen cameras and doorbells.

If you have a 2nd gen camera or doorbell and a Nest Aware Plus subscription, you view history in the Google Home app:

We have both types of cameras, so we have to use both apps.

I really apprecite your help. Thank you.

On a separate note but related is there a way to automatically have the doorbell video show up on phone instead of just the notification when it detects someone/something ? That would make sense.

@mstrlucky74

That sounds like an interesting option, but there's currently no way to do that.

Hello I Rudy and I need the Google nest costumer support's phone number

@mapsonmampuya

Google Nest does not have a Support phone number. To contact Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
