All personal routines disappeared

ThorsReign

Hi all, had anybody else lost their personal routines? This evening I tried starting mine that turned off my TV, turned on my bedroom lights, said goodnight to me, waited 90 seconds and turned off my living room lights and nothing was happening. I checked the app and all of my personal routines are gone except those preloaded, and all of the preloaded had all of the additional commands I'd given them removed. Those preloaded ones I'd removed steps from still had the parts I removed gone from them, so it's not like it reset everything it just removed anything I had added. By contrast, all of my household routines were still there. I'm the only person in my household who creates routines.

Hello folks,

We’re aware of reported issues with Assistant Settings that may affect some functions, including certain Routines and settings. We’re looking into possible solutions. Meanwhile, you can check and adjust your settings and Routines in Assistant Settings or the Google Home App.

Same thing here, I've set the a male voice, but if a take longer to use a voice command it uses a female voice.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Were there any recent changes made before the issue started? You can all try to do a sequential reboot, then observe if this will fix the issue. First, unplug your Nest speakers/ displays for 30 seconds, then do the same thing on your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Juni

I solved by factoring reset the google nest, if that happens again I'll try what you said.

OK, so I unplugged all my Nest speakers, Nest Hub, and Smart Clock for 30 sec. as well as my router. So far so good but it's only been a couple of hours. If it doesn't work I'll be back and post. As I said it all started when I hooked up my new Google Nest Hub Gen. 3 to the system. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.

I tried it and that didn't work. Still don't see how the Google Nest Hub could have anything to do with it but it didn't happen until I got it. Also it seems to mostly do it when you have two replying to a request or question.

Neither factory reset or uplug for 30 seconds worked, the Google Nest continues to answer with a different voice sometimes

This isn't something on our end. It's something to do with Google and Google Home. It doesn't happen with non-Google devices. My Lenovo Smart Clock always replies with the voice I picked. It's my Google mini nest speakers and Nest Hub that reply in the wrong voice. Lastly as I said before it may be coincidence but it didn't start happening until I bought and connected my Google Nest Hub.

I have been having the same issue for about a month now. No recent changes. I reported feedback today using hey Google on one of my devices as well.

Nothing worked. I did all that was recommended and it sill uses another voice to confirm things like alarm, timer, turning on other devices. It didn't have this problem in the past and it happens a couple days after the reset suggested here.

It would be nice if someone from Google would give us a real fix to this situation. If it is something from their end and they are working on the problem let us know.

I chatted with a customer service agent and if it's not resolved I will contact them again to escalate it. If I get any resolution I'll let you all know what happens.  Thank you all for posting on here so I know I'm not the only one with this issue.

Same issue, thought I was going crazy. Not only my google products doing it. Now my Alexa Echo seems to be doing it.

I ask the time. I get a female voice. I ask the time in a different country I get the male voice I picked.

I've duplicated this thread to a similar trending issue on this link. I suggest checking the main thread for future updates and advanced troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Dan

Here's one for you. I ask it to turn off a light. Assistant replies in the woman's voice it's turning off the light. I say thank you and the man's voice answers "your welcome". Hmmmmmm

The problem is not with the devices. It's something to do with the google assistant software. This glitch has been going on for the past two months. Those of us on here have done all the resets, factory installs etc. and it still happens. It even changes the to the default "pink" on it's own. Stop telling us to do the resets etc. and get the problem fixed.

I created a new topic for this because I'm feeling it's being ignored here, meybe this issue is another thing.
My settings are just ok, but this error persists.

Here is it.

Is it just me or are your goggles changing there voices all by themselves. Mines really bugging me and my family because we have a lot of google products, mainly the nest. The nest is my main problem where as our kitchen display or google hub, will work fine.

OK Dan,

This has been going on for over a month now. It seems that Google could figure out what's going on by now. Not only is it frustrating and annoying, people are going to be reluctant to use Google Home or buy Google Products if things like this happens and Google is slow to fix them or refuse to fix them at all. If it was just me that would be one thing but the number of people that are having problems with the Google Assistant voice  or the routines are growing. My question is what was in the last update and how did it affect Google Home?

Same issue here.  All routines missing, Google Assistant voice reset, and some other issues like the default music service getting reset and voice match reset/disabled on all of my Google speakers.

I did get an e-mail today where Google has at least acknowledged that there is an issue and that they're working on it:

It's not a fix, but at least we're not being completely ignored!

Topher, that was a month ago. Have you heard anything from them since?

So fun story, this morning I noticed all of my personal routines are back on in Google assistant and all my old family bells have also been restored....yay! Hope everyone else is in the same boat that they at least got them back.

That said however, now I have may duplicate routines and bells because I created new ones that I couldn't live without....and since both the old and new routines have the same voice commands prompted to use them, it seems that when I try to use anything that was duplicated Google doesn't know which version of the routine to use (as we cant usually create multiple routines with the same voice command). So now I get to go back thru and sort and determine which versions of the routines I want to keep....for all the routines I went and recreated since it sounded like there was no way to restore the routines that just disappeared (I was told this directly from support multiple times) so now not only did I spend several hours recreating the routines.....now I have to go back AGAIN and remove the duplicates....please for the love of God Google, get your stuff together and do a better job rolling out changes.....this little glitch cause be countless hours of stress, and work to recreate, and now to remove the extra work, and to top it off contemplate if I even want a Google device in my home anymore. Terrible customer service when I tried to alert support the the issue at hand, and blatantly told to basically suck it, and deal with it - and that it wasn't your fault and wasn't your problem.

Mine is now worse. If I ask the time the time my mini nest speakers and hub answer with the wrong voice. My Lenovo clock replies with the correct one. If I ask it anything else it replies with the correct voice...at least so far. I don't know if it was timing or not but all this began with me when I bought and connected my Google Nest Hub.

@bearwolf56

In recent weeks, Google has been responding with different voices at our house. Other customers in this forum have reported the same thing.

My Home Minis were always fine but yes, the voice assistant issue didn't start for me until I switched to a Nest Mini recently. So frustrating. I didn't have routines set up (yet, luckily) so I didn't have a big loss on that end.

Mine didn't start until I added a Google Nest Hub, but that could have been coincidence.

Just another thought, have you tried removing the new hub from your google home for a day or two, and see if the issue goes away? Just to try to isolate the issue to the one device causing havok?

I got the email, but I still don't have my personal routines back. In addition to losing all of my personal routines, I lost my assistant voice setting. I changed it back and that's been fine. I saw that someone said theirs disappeared after they added a Nest Hub Max to their setup. It was shortly after adding one to my setup that my routines disappeared.

The lack of communication is really disappointing.

I have recreated my routines in Alexa rather than Google Home because 1. I have as many Alexas around as Home devices, and 2., I don't want my routines clobbered if/when they are restored, but I have this to say about that... it was so much easier to duplicate the routines in Alexa, by room, rather than in Google by individual lightbulb. I wouldn't be as upset as I am if it wasn't so difficult and time consuming to create the routines in the first place!

So now I have routines on timers failing in a similar fashion. They have no idea about the devices or commands. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uTESSr5FUQXoj9Rj7

Is anybody from Google going to help? I think I'm going to look at other home solutions if this continues.

OK, this situation is only getting worse. Not only is there an issue with the voices being wrong, now if I ask for a timer it gives me two, and at night after my good night routine, if I say anything else to it it askes "What time?" like it wants to set an alarm. It's only getting worse and Google isn't able to fix it or they aren't even trying.

Do you by chance have 2 different google accounts for yourself linked to your google home? I somehow ended up with 2 of my own google accounts connected to google home at one point by mistake and recieved some very strange behavior that went away after I removed the second account. - I only suggest this as you say it is trying to do some things twice

Thank you for your suggestion but I only one Google account.

Well, major fail from Google here. After breaking all of my routines and many of my Google Assistant settings, I've just gotten a new communication from Google. . . telling me that "my account wasn't impacted". Uhh. . . yeah, it was.  I experienced it, confirmed it, performed troubleshooting on it, and then I reported it.

Talk about pouring salt in a wound. It was bad enough when I was just being ignored, but this is just ridiculous. 😲😒😬

I got the same email. I definitely lost all of my routines and my assistant voice was changed back to the default. This email makes me think that they have no idea what the problem is and it's bound to happen again, since obviously whatever method they used to determine if someone is impacted, is completely flawed.

Well guys it's been over three months and Google hasn't fixed the assistant voice issue. I guess they don't care thier software is faulty.

I have continued to have other random issues pop up over the last 3 months, I have an odd feeling it has something to do with them trying to roll out changes for compatibility with the new Matter standards. I now have a fan that when I tell google to turn fan on or off - it replies that it doesn't know where to play that video.....it worked fine a few weeks ago....then poof. They do seem very slow to reply or even address when things go wrong with the assistant tho as of late and it is very frustrating to say the least. And the communication has been hot garbage.

Has there been a solution... still not working here? See them in the App but no show on hub.

some of my created routines disappeared 28/06/2023… Will they be returned or what?
