Assigning smart plugs to divisions in my home

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I have a TP-Link Tapo smart plug and a Sonoff switch installed and linked to my Google Home App on my Android phone. When I added the TP-Link plug this morning, I was asked if I wanted to assign it to a division within my house, which I did. Now, I want the Sonoff switch in the same division, but I am unable to move it from just within the house--no division, to the division where I want it. Likewise, I am unable to delete the division assignment from the Tapo plug. I prefer to have both in the same division, but if that´s not possible, is there a way to take the Tapo plug out of the assigned division without simply uninstalling it and re-installing it?

Thanks.

Hi jbb0906,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, let’s get this resolved. A few things: are you getting any message when you try to move your devices in the Google Home app? If so, what is the exact message? What is the make and model of the mobile phone that you are using? Did you try to use another phone to further isolate the issue?

You can send us a screenshot showing your concern so we can take a closer look. Below are the steps on how to upload a photo:

  1. Start a new post.
  2. Click Insert Image.
  3. Choose an image source location.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions

Also, you can tap the "Drag and Drop" option. Maximum attachment is 5 MB.

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni, thanks for your response. I kept fooling with it and discovered that the only way to put it in a different division was to do so on the linked app. in this case, it is EWeLink. Once I moved it there, then Google Home allowed me to put it in the correct division.

Somewhat related, are there any smart plugs that work organically with Google Home, so that I don´t have to install an app for a third party?

Thanks.
