Assistant priority

Hi everyone, I've been experiencing a very strange issue since buying my Pixel 8 Pro. Basically, whenever I say "Ok Google" in the kitchen, both my Nest Hub and my Pixel activate. What's different from my old phone is that when I give a command, like "turn on the hallway light," both devices execute it, but the Nest Hub uses Google Assistant, and the Pixel uses Gemini. Sometimes, the phone screen even gets stuck on the Gemini screen, and then the Nest Hub seems to wait for the Pixel to finish listening. Do you think this is normal? Is there a way to make only the Nest Hub respond if both devices understand the command? Thanks a lot.

Hi fidex92,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with the Google Assistant on your Nest Hub and your Pixel 8 Pro while you are using the command "Ok Google." You can try to disable the Google Assistant on your phone to make sure that the only device that will follow the command is the Nest Hub. For this we can point you in the right direction. Our friends at Pixel Phone Help are the perfect folks to help you with it.

Best regards,
