At home routine does not set status tom home but asks

Stefan_GER
Community Member

Hello,

If I say "I am at home" or "I leave home" the routine gets startet. But after about 10 sec I get askes by the Home Device "du you want to set you statuts to - at home?" or vice versa, if I said the leaving command.

Thats obviously quite anoying - I would like to have the status to bet set automatically without the question.
My attempts to set a custom command into the routine for this failied.

Do you have any ideas?

Best

Stefan

Hey Stefan_GER,

Thanks for reaching out.

A few questions: is it only happening in this particular routine? Do you have a home automation like camera that is connected to your Google Home? Could you try recreating your routine to see if that help?

Best,

Alex

hey Alex thanks for linking in

- well as prepared by google there are two routine types; inside the german setup they are called "Abläufe im Haushalt" und "Persönliche Abläufe".

- google provides a "not at home"-routine in both - With slight different possibilites.
I make use of exactly this provided routines customized to my devices.

- the first one can detect wether the phone is at home and switch lights and switches but it does not react on the voice input "I am at home" and is is not able of controlling the thermostats.

Therefore I need the second routine - the problem is that this both routines (instead of the usual ones) seem to have some kind of link - but not in a good way as described in my previous post.

The question is how can I  prevent the completely  superfluous question "set routine to absent?" when I say "I leave home!" (and vice versa when coming home).

Hi there,

You can create routines in the Home app that can use presence sensing to automatically adjust your home devices when someone comes home and when everyone’s away.

Presence in the home is determined using input from your phone’s location (if you opt-in) and sensors in your smart devices, so you don’t have to manually turn your devices on and off or rely on a fixed schedule. You can decide which devices, including your phone, will determine presence.

Currently, you can control the following devices with Home and Away routines in the Home app. This list of devices will continue to grow to include other devices that are compatible with Google Assistant over time:

  • Nest thermostats
  • Nest cameras
  • Nest doorbells
  • Smart lights
  • Smart plugs
  • Smart switches

Hello Stefan_GER,

One quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need assistance, feel free to start a new thread in the Community and we’ll be happy to help.

Regards,

Alex

I'll have a look at it - but I still do not see an answer to the main question - how can I get rid of the superfluous callback by the home device?

Hey there,

While we don't have a way to disable or change how the Google Home responds to your request, you can send a feedback report on your device or on the app.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey Alex,

I am sending feature requests on that since two years now...

Google Support stills sees this behaviour as a feature (without every presenting me one reasonable example when or how it would be usefull) - I was hoping the community might have some out of the box ideas.

Best

Stefan

Hi folks,

@Alex and @Princess, thanks for the help.

@Stefan_GER, I totally understand that this is a good feature to use with your Nest speaker, but, this feature is not yet available. You may use the link provided in this thread to submit feedback as every bit of feedback helps a ton.

Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Thanks,

Juni
