Best camera

Hello. For some reason while looking through my information I noticed my Nest Camera House Nick Name was set to a name I would have never ever wrote. Could that mean someone is hacked or has hacked into my Nest Cameras?

Hi AmyCooper,

Thanks for visiting the Community. I'm sorry for the delayed response. Let's sort this out. May I know if you saw it in the Nest app or the Google Home app? Do you have more than one home structure? Also, what Nest devices are added in your account?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT

It showed up on the Google app, not Nest. Just one home. Only have two cameras added on that Nest account.

Hi AmyCooper,

Thanks for clarifying that. Let's have a better look — give these steps a try:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top, make sure your home name is listed. If needed, tap the name to change your home.
  3. Tap Settings >  Home information > Home address .
  4. Tap Edit > Enter your address > Next.
  5. Drag the map so the pin is on your home and tap Done.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

JT

Well that’s the weird part. It’s named Erin by E and I definitely did not name my home that.
And if I have been hacked and someone named it that randomly I’m definitely not going to put in my home address and pin location

Hi there,

I understand where you're coming from. Usually, the home structure in your Nest app is different in the Google Home app but technically they're the same home structure if both apps show your Nest devices. Changing your home structure name in the Google Home app is the best thing you can do to avoid confusion. If you feel your account is compromised you can change your Nest account password and set up your 2-step verification.
