Echo dot connecting to Google wifi points

This might be a silly question but is anybody having issues connecting their echo dots to the Google Wi-Fi points due to the inability to split the bands?

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with connecting your Echo Dots. Upon checking, it supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Are you getting any messages when you try to connect your Echo dot?

No messages in the Alexa app. Just following directions. It asks to connect to the Echo's signal and then select which wifi is supposed to connect to, enter password, then it goes back to "connect back to the Echo's signal" even though I'm still connected to it. Tried multiple phones, factory resets, power cycles, logged out off app, uninstalled app, reinstalled app. It might just be a dud. Amazon support says it should work but because I can't split the wifi, it won't connect to the network, like it doesn't know which band to choose. It's not a deal breaker, the echo was a gift. Maybe a regift, maybe because it no workie.

Hi ianlandmon,

 

Thanks for the response. One thing that you could also try is to set up a mobile hotspot using the same SSID and password of your Google Wifi, and try to connect your Amazon Echo to it. Once connected, disable the hotspot and check if your Echo would connect to your Google Wifi.
