Can I use my nest wifi point as a Google home speaker only with a non-Nest / Google WiFi network.

A previous post seems to indicate yes, however the link provided in the answer no longer explains how to do this. I assume it is out of date.

I tried them, but it didn't work. It never says there is no Google Nest router present, even though I've connected it to a non-Google nest router's WiFi network. (I did keep the name and password the same as my old Nest router network though.) Instead, it just tries to set up the mesh and obviously fails.

If you've used it previously with a Nest Wifi network, you'll need to reset it first. Have you done that?

I hard reset the wifi points if that's what you're asking.

Have there been any updates on this?

I have not gotten an update. I'm just assuming they're useless now.

Thank you for responding.  Disappointing but not surprising news.

I don't think that is necessary.  I checked an earlier version of the page in question, and the instructions on how to add a wifi point as a speaker with Google assistant were removed at some point in the last three years (they were there in 2021, but are now gone).  Very frustrating to have functionality for these devices removed as I have three that are now useless.  Moving to Alexa as soon as possible.  Thanks.
