Change Order of Home Control Sections

I have a few devices connected and want quick access to them on my Nest Hub V1.

When I tap the screen or swipe down, the home control screen has some buttons down the left: Climate, Speakers & TVs, Routines, Rooms. Then it has a large section for my Nest thermostat, then a large help link labelled Home Control, then, off the screen to the right is my garage door control and I can't see it initially. I mostly use the garage door control because I check it's closed after I've used it and before I go to bed. The thermostat I can see on the wall and also I don't need to see a huge tile just linking to some help.

It says that devices in the same room appear first, but to get to my garage door control I have to swipe right, past the help tile. Also, the washing machine doesn't appear at all on this Home control screen.

  1. How do I get the garage door to appear fist, before the thermostat and the help tile?
  2. Why doesn't the washing machine appear?tmp.jpg

Hi ChrisH_61,

Thanks for posting.

For your first question, I understand that this would be a helpful feature, however this option is not available. In line with this, we want to encourage you to send feedback from your end and we’re hoping for all the possibilities by taking our user’s feedback and suggestions.

For your second question, let me first ask a few questions to narrow things down:

  1. What’s the name of your washing machine and the app it’s linked to?
  2. Can you control your washing machine via voice command?
  3. Are all devices on the same Wi-Fi network?

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Dan

Thanks for the reply.
Well there are 2 issues with the washing machine. One is the above, not appearing at all on the nest hub, the other is that it no longer gives me useful information with voice commands, but it did when I first installed it.
Firstly, to answer your questions:

  1. It's just called "Washing machine" in Google home
  2. Sort of but it used to give me more control, or at least information
  3. Yes, all on the same WiFi.

My washing machine is made by LG and it uses the LG ThinQ app, which is linked to my Google home and displays on my mobile Home app. So the ThinQ app shows me full details of what's going on: what cycle it's running, which phase of the cycle and how long to go.

When I first got the washer and connected it I was really pleased because I could say "Hey Google, what's the washer doing?" and it would respond with something like "The washing machine is on the spin cycle, with 19 minutes remaining", which was great. I don't know when it changed or why, but now it just says "The washing machine is running". Well, that is pretty useless because I already know it's running - that's why I'm asking for information. Instead I have to go directly into the ThinQ app to find out what I want, which kind of removes the usefulness of the Nest hub.

My Questions:

  1. Why does Goggle voice command give me less information than it used to?
  2. Why doesn't the washing machine appear at all on the Nest Hub, when it appears in my Home mobile app?
  3. On my mobile I can go into the washing machine settings and basically it only allows me to switch it off or on and the cycle selected (I can't change it). I have to go into the ThinQ app to see or do anything useful.

Hello Chris,

Apologies for the late response. I'm checking back to see the status of your LG washing machine. Does it still not give you the full details when asked using your Nest Hub? Have you tried reaching out to LG support for additional information and troubleshooting? If so, how was it?

I look forward to your response!

Kind regards,

Dan
