Device triggers not working anymore

Mellamo

A few weeks ago, my device-triggered automations stopped working. I have one for a sensor in the bathroom, which is frustrating now that it doesn't work.

I've tried reinstalling the sensor without any luck.

To confirm the problem, I've tried creating an automation that turns one light on when another light turns off, but nothing happens.

When I set up my sensor in the Philips Hue app, I can use it to trigger the living room light through an automation.

This suggests that the issue is with Google. Am I the only one experiencing this? I couldn't find anything online about it, and it's really frustrating.

Any ideas?

Hi Mellamo,

Thanks for reaching out and providing detailed information on your issue and the steps that you've done — these are of great help!

A few things: Are you able to access and control your sensor using the Google Home app? To confirm, you were able to set up a routine before using this sensor, and it just stopped working. Is that accurate? If yes, were there any recent changes made before the issue began?

Keep me posted.

Sorry for the late response…

but yes, it just randomly stopped working by. It did work perfectly before, not just the sensor but other triggers aswell.

I can’t no longer create automations that is device triggered. Example; previously I could create a automation that turns on light 2 when I turn on light 1.

So the problem isn’t with the sensor itself. I see the status, in my google home app, change when I enter that room. But it’s just not triggering the automation.

I’ve also tried removing it and creating a new one. No luck

Hi Mellamo,

Thanks for the info you've shared. Have you already tried performing a complete reset to your device? If not, let's try that first and see if this would make any changes on its behavior.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

As I’ve explained two times now. This isn’t just affecting the motion sensor but it’s affecting every device in my google home. I’ve tried resetting and deleting the motion sensor too but it still doesn’t work

Hi Mellamo,

Thanks for trying and we're sorry you are still experiencing this. What phone are you using (Android,iOS)? What is the Google Home app version installed to your phone? Try reinstalling the Google Home app and observe if it will make a difference. Using another phone might help too.

Keep me posted.

Juni
