Dumb handling of timers - one device doesn't realize another a timer is running on another

I set a timer on Nest Hub Gen 2 in Pink room.

I move to another room and say to Nest Hub Gen 2 Blue room:
"Hey google resume timer"

Says none set.

"Hey google resume timer on <name of display  in pink room.>"
Says none set.

Go to Nest Hub Gen 2 Pink room and stand in front of it.

"Hey resume timer"

Then it works.

So much for a smart home.
