Exploring Smart Home Control While Visiting Montenegro National Park – Any Tips?

Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip to visit a Montenegro’s national parks (specifically the Durmitor National Park or the Prokletije National Park) later this year, and I’d love to keep my smart home setup at home running smoothly while I’m away. I currently use the Google Nest ecosystem (Nest Hub, Nest Cams, Nest Thermostat) and want to make sure I’m covered.

Here are my main questions:

  1. Remote Automation & Monitoring:
Can anyone share best practices for ensuring my Nest cameras, door sensors and thermostat remain fully accessible from abroad (Montenegro) without running into connectivity issues or regional restrictions?

  2. Power / Internet Outage Safeguards:
Considering potential power or internet service interruptions in the national park region (while I’m away), what Nest- or Google-approved accessories or configurations would you recommend to keep everything safe and connected? (E.g., UPS for router, mobile hotspot fallback, automation routines when offline.)

  3. Vacation Mode Automation Recipes:
What vacation-mode routines have you created for Nest devices when you’re out of the country? I’m thinking: lowering thermostat, toggling cameras, lighting patterns to simulate presence. If you’ve done this before while travelling overseas (especially to remote places), what worked and what didn’t?

  4. Data Usage / Roaming While Abroad:
While I’ll be abroad in Montenegro’s national parks what’s the impact on my home Nest devices if I log in from abroad? Are there any security concerns or extra steps I should take?

  5. Local Smart Home Integration Back Home:
Finally – for when I return from my trip – any automation ideas you can share that tie in nicely with a “coming home from adventure in montenegro national park theme? For example: welcome-back lighting scenes, thermostat boost, camera snapshots.

If you’ve set up your Google Nest ecosystem for remote travel and return routines, I’d really appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance!
