Google Home Mini not connecting.

Hello All,

my home mini speaker is not connecting or can not be found by the home app. Usually the app shows any new product that needs to be connected or setup and it refuses to do it with this mini. I currently have 3 in my apt. This is the only one that doesn’t work. I’ve already

redownloaded the app

reset the mini (both ways that I’ve been able to find online)

changed the minis location to be closer to the router for setup

power cycled the mini.
I’ve done whatever fix I could find online and nothing is working. So my question is, can this be fixed, if not can I be l down to the Google store and replace it. It’s only about a month old.

Here are some alternative steps you can try. First make sure both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned ON on your phone or tablet. Let's try these steps:

  1. Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device.

  2. Open the list of available Wi-Fi networks and look for an available network with the name “GoogleHomeXXXX" (where XXXX is a random number).

Note: If you previously set up your device and haven't factory reset it since it lost connection to your Wi-Fi network, look for the name of the device that you assigned to it in the list of available networks on your mobile device.

  3. If you can successfully connect to your speaker or display's Wi-Fi network in your Wi-Fi settings, open the Google Home app and try to set up the device.

Thank you for your reply.
I have already factory reset the device a few times in an attempt to get it to work. Currently when looking at the wifi networks with any mobile device in this apt, none of them are for that Google mini speaker. I’ve reloaded the wifi settings and walked closer to the speaker as well and still nothing.

What does the light do when you power on the device?

It turns on normal. 1 light. Then all 4 lights. Then she starts talking “download Google home app to get started”

So it's not setup yet and should be broadcasting its setup network. You don't see the “GoogleHomeXXXX" (where XXXX is a random number) network on any device?

Have you tried with a few devices to check?

Yea it’s def not setup and I have tried with multiple devices to try and find it through the wifi in the iOS settings app.

Hey there,

Thanks for the assistance as always, davidking!

Was it working before? Was it connected to a different network? Also, when and where did you purchase your device?

Best,

Alex

It was connected at some point. We had to change our Verizon router due to some issues with it. After the change we were able to connect all our our other speakers and Philips hue bulb except for this speaker. I bought it at the Google store in Chelsea NYC. I went there and exchange it for another device so as of now all is well. Maybe it was just a faulty device.

Hey Sf158,

Awesome! We're glad they're able to replace your device. Do you have any other questions with your Google Nest speakers?

Thanks,

Alex
