Google Home Stopped Controlling Lights with Voice Control

SaltyG

Hello,

I have had Google Home set up with WIZ connected lights, 2 Nest Mini and Phone and they have been working great for 6 months.  Just today, the lights stopped working to voice commands.  The WIZ app works fine.  The Google Home App on Phone, works fine by pushing the buttons.  But when I say "Hey Google Turn on Front Door Light" it says Sorry, I don't understand.  This just started.  I have tried relinking the account, rebooting the devices and nothing.  the light did respond to Hey Google Set Front Door Light to 100%.  But thats it.  I used to be able to say Turn Front door light ON or Off, etc and it would respond.  Any ideas what is going on.

Hi folks,

@SaltyG, we're glad to hear that your concern was fixed overnight. You might be right, it must have been with the new update version with Wiz to Wiz V2. Our Nest devices rely on the 3rd party functions on features to work properly.

@Teemu, @Scwyman1756, could you confirm if your concerns are now resolved? If not yet, it would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers and your Wiz devices.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Also, check out this helpful guide about home control: Use smart lights with Google Nest or Home devices.

Best,

Dan

Same. Wiz V2 replaced the Wiz app I believe. I migrated to Wiz V2 (completely new app) last night and lost voice recognition as well since Wiz V2 can’t integrate to Google Home yet. Hopefully it’s resolved soon.

Glad to know it was just not me.  The system started working again to voice commands this morning.  Hope it stays fixed.  Yes, I upgraded to Wiz V2, but after the problem.  Still didnt fix it.  Overnight, it just started working again.  Guess some backend programming updates at either Google or Wiz

Hi folks,

@Teemu, that's awesome! Good to know that it's now also working on your end.

@Scwyman1756, let's keep the ball rolling! Is it now fixed? Are you again able to control your smart lights?

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Dan

I’m back in! I restarted my phone and the two Nests in the kids’ rooms. The lights were immediately recognized by Google Home.  Thank you for your help!
