Google Home no longer understands commands like "turn off the master bedroom lamp"

Google Home no longer understands commands like "turn off the master bedroom lamp" or "turn on the kitchen light". Those devices are still labeled as such inside Home and the built-in routines like "Good night" and "Good morning" still turn those devices on or off. Asking Home to turn them on or off individually, by name, no longer works.  I first noticed this behavior around 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

I am having the same problem with all my lights.  All of them are from Enbrighten smart plugs.  The weird thing is that my wife can command them with the same words I will use and they work.  It seems to be something with my Google assistant.

I'm having this issue also. I have switches , light bulbs etc from 4 different manufacturers.  Yesterday 3-23-23 google assistant kept saying  "sorry I don't understand " on commands I've been using for a year. I tried unlinking and relinking  the accounts. Didn't help. In addition and this one is kind of scary.  The assistants voice changes!! It goes from my selected voice, British female to American  female . All this  started yesterday.  Google what's going on?

I am having the same problem as willc61. I use Philips hue lights throuout my home. Some still respond to voice commands. One will only turn on and not off. And others give the "sorry I don't understand". The lights are all listed in the home app and work from there and in the hue app just not by voice. I have tried to unlink hue services and relink and asked Google nest mini to resync. Still the same problem. Please help!

Mine has fixed itself.  Back to working.  I guess it was a glitch in the matrix.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out.

I want to follow up to ensure everything's working as it should on everyone's end. It seems like the recent firmware update fixed the issue with controlling your smart devices. If you still encounter similar concerns, please let me know so we can address them right away.

Cheers,
Lovely
