Hey all,
I’ve noticed some odd behavior on iOS 17 when switching between the Google Home app and the scarlet iOS installer. After using Scarlet, some of my Nest automations either delay or don’t run as expected.
Not sure if it’s a background process issue or something about how Scarlet interacts with local network permissions. Has anyone else seen similar conflicts when using third-party apps outside the App Store?
Would appreciate any insights. Thanks.

Hi yvonne45778,
Thanks for your post. I understand you're experiencing delays with your Google Home routines and that your automations aren't running as expected, particularly after using the Scarlet iOS installer. I'd be happy to provide some guidance.
We only recommend using your Google Nest devices in conjunction with the Google Home app. This helps ensure optimal performance and smooth execution of your automation sequences.
I hope this helps!
Best regards,
Jenny

Scarlet, being a third-party installer, may interfere with system-level settings or network configurations that Google Home relies on for smooth operation. To troubleshoot, try restarting both your iOS device and Google Home, check your Wi-Fi stability reiki training, and ensure all app permissions are correctly configured. If the issue persists, consider uninstalling Scarlet temporarily to see if the delays are resolved.

It’s possible that the delay in Google Home routines after using the Scarlet iOS installer is due to how it affects system background processes or network connectivity. Some third-party tools can interfere with smart home automation timing.
If you’re using streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, or even Nekopoi—which is surprisingly smooth and efficient in content delivery—you might notice that only certain services are affected while others like Nekopoi anime streaming app continue running flawlessly. Try restarting your device, re-linking Google Home, and testing routines again. Temporarily disabling Scarlet may help pinpoint if it’s the cause without impacting trusted apps you rely on.

Hey, I’ve seen similar behavior but in my case with a streaming app I sideloaded via Scarlet. After running it for a while, AirPlay casting to Apple TV would intermittently hang until I force-quit the sideloaded app.
It seems like Scarlet-installed apps may not always release local network permissions cleanly, which could explain conflicts with Nest automations too. iOS 17 tightened background process handling, so if the sideloaded app keeps a network session alive in the background, it might delay or block other services.
One workaround I’ve tried is disabling Background App Refresh for Scarlet and the sideloaded app — that reduced the conflicts quite a bit. Might be worth testing whether your automations behave better with that toggle off.

Hey @yvonne45778, good question! I’ve seen something similar on iOS 17 too — especially after using apps like Scarlet and even some third-party photo editors that aren’t from the App Store. It seems like iOS can get pretty strict with background processes and local network permissions when it comes to sideloaded apps, and that can spill over into delays with Google Home routines and Nest automations.
What helped me a bit was going into Settings → Privacy → Local Network and double-checking that Google Home, Scarlet, and any photo editing apps I sideload have local network access enabled. Also, making sure Background App Refresh is turned on can sometimes help keep everything running smoothly.
Would love to hear if anyone else found a cleaner workaround — especially those using creative tools outside the App Store!

I’ve tried many streaming apps, but Magis TV for PC is on another level. Smooth performance, HD clarity, and an endless choice of movies, shows, and live channels—perfect for non-stop entertainment.

Interesting observation! Background process conflicts can definitely create unexpected issues, especially when multiple apps are trying to manage network permissions. I’ve seen something similar, not with iOS, but when relying on LESCO’s online bill system. Sometimes if the official site is slow or a third-party portal isn’t properly optimized, it causes delays in fetching bills or due dates — almost like the automation issue you’re describing here. It makes me wonder if Scarlet is interfering with how Google Home processes local data, the same way a poorly tuned online billing tool can disrupt smooth access. Maybe checking network permissions or isolating the apps could help narrow it down. Check Your Bills here-> https://lescoebil.pk
