Google Thermostat

I am trying to get this thermostat to stop changing the temperature in my house.

I do not want eco temperature to ever modify the temp setpoint regardless if I am home or what it thinks.

can this be completely turned off? If not I will just return it and go back to a standard thermostat.

i have turned off all scheduling and turned off everything it will let me turn off, but it still changes the temp in the house.

I'm assuming you have a Nest  Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat. Did you follow these steps?

  1. Open the Google Nest app.
  2. Select your thermostat.
  3. Select the Mode option in the lower left and set the mode to Heat/Cool.
  4. Select the Eco option in the lower center and end Eco Temperatures on all thermostats.

If you also want to stop it adjusting based on home/away assist and the auto-schedule features, select the settings icon in the upper right and turn off the Home/Away Assist and Auto-Schedule options.

Hi there,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for sharing the steps, @David_K.

@Fe2O3y, in addition to what was shared above, if you have the Google Home app installed. Please check the Routines and remove all thermostat actions available. This also triggers your thermostat to change the temperature randomly.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hello Fe2O3y,

Checking back in — how's it going? Still need our help?

Best,

Mark

Yeah I have done all of the things above and it still does it. There is nothing active, no schedule, eco mode is deactivated, yet eco mode still turns on. The away assist is off. I mean literally every option is turned off.

Hi Fe2O3y,

Thanks for the update. I appreciate all the steps you've taken. I wanted to confirm if you were able to check the Google Home app's Routine settings. How's it going? Were there any thermostat actions created? Please keep me in the loop.

Best,
Mark

There are no routines activated.

Hey there,

I'm sorry for the late response, and thanks for keeping me in the loop. With this, do you have home members that have access to your thermostat? If so, they might have programmed some settings on their phone that contribute to the temperature changes. You can try checking them and making some changes, or you can remove them as a home member.

Regards,
Mark

Hello there Fe2O3y,

I don't want to be a nudge, but I'd like to check if you were able to get your thermostat working. Feel free to reach back if you still need help.

Thanks,

Mark

No one but myself has the application so no one has programmed anything. When you look at the schedules it shows nothing, but it still continues to change the temperature.
clearly just a poor design and I plan to return it if not throw it away.

Hi folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

@Fe2O3y, can you tell us what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? It will help us identify the steps we should give you to follow.

I appreciate your help, @David_K and Mark.

Zoe

Hello there, Fe2O3y,

I'm sorry for the late response, and thanks for confirming. Let's give this step a whirl: disable your thermostat from the Wi-Fi network for 24 hours and monitor its temperature behavior to see if the thermostat is still adjusting on its own. To disconnect it, go to the Network settings or Reset settings, then Network or Account Connection.

Keep us posted.

Best,
Mark

Hi Fe2O3y,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Regards,
Mark

I did all of these things a long time ago, there is nothing scheduled nothing active. It still does not stop. When I click the eco button now the only option is to turn it on, because it’s off. Yet it still does it.
