Google floodlight verbal commands

Google floodlight camera rarely responds to automation commands such as (turn on/off). Instead responds with...

"Sorry, unable to reach light right now, please try again"

I have reset light switch and reset the hub. Problem persists.

This has been happening since November 2023.

It works when it wants to which is 10% of the time.

Must turn on manually through the app every time.

Only other thought or option may be to remove device entirely from Google Home and add product all over again.

Any suggestions?

Hi Markymark83,

Uh-ho! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Nest Cam with floodlight not responding consistently to automation commands, such as turning on or off, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure that your Nest Cam with floodlight  has a stable and reliable network connection. Poor connectivity may result in intermittent communication issues. Verify that the camera is connected to your home Wi-Fi network and that the signal strength is adequate.
  2. Try power cycling both your Nest Cam with floodlight and your hub or smart home controller. Disconnect them from power for a few minutes, then reconnect and allow them to restart. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches or connectivity issues.
  3. Check if there are any available firmware or software updates for your Nest Cam with floodlight and the associated hub or smart home controller. Keeping the devices up to date can address known issues and improve overall performance.
  4. As you mentioned, removing the Nest Cam with floodlight from your Google Home and re-adding it can sometimes help resolve connectivity issues. Before removing the device, make sure to note any specific settings or configurations you have customized, as you will need to set them up again during the re-addition process.
  5. Ensure that your Nest Cam with floodlight is located within the recommended range of your Wi-Fi network and the hub or smart home controller. Obstructions or a significant distance from the network source can affect connectivity and responsiveness.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
