Google mini nest 2 and hue bulbs

Thisiswelchy

Hi all, hoping someone might be able to answer my questions and/or help me out.

I have a Google nest mini 2 connect with 3 Philips Hue bulbs downstairs in my house, and I do not have a Philips Hue Bridge. I have just got a 2nd Google nest mini 2 for upstairs to connect an office Phillips Hue light. I have the speaker (nest mini 2) connected to Google Home, but I cannot connect the Phillips office light to the Google home.

I am wondering if there is there a limit on how many Philip Hue bulbs you can connect to a mini nest 2 without a bridge, or of there may be a way of connecting the office bulb to the office nest mini and have it work though the same home. Thank you in advance 🙂

Hi Thisiswelchy,

Thanks for posting.

For us to properly address your concern, may we know if your Philips Hue bulbs are purely dependent on its bridge or if you have Bluetooth-function Philips Hue bulbs? If a bridge is needed, are those of the 1st or 2nd generation?

By the way, you can add up to six Philips Hue bulbs to your Google Home/Nest speaker.

If you can’t pair your Philips Hue bridge with a speaker or display:

  1. Say the voice command, "Hey Google, sync all devices."
  2. Check the following items on your Philips Hue bridge:
    • Is your Philips Hue bridge powered up?
    • Have you plugged your bridge into your Wi-Fi router?
    • Are all the lights on the top of the bridge illuminated?
  3. Make sure your speaker or display, and Philips Hue bridge, are on the same Wi-Fi network and connected to the same router.
  4. Reboot your speaker or display and the Philips Hue bridge.

For more information about using smart lights to Google Home, see this guide: Use smart lights with Google Nest or Home devices.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Thanks for the help, @Dan_A.
