Google nest hub - play music

I have been telling my Google nest hub for 2 years now "play YouTube music" and it plays music based on my YouTube music history

Now when I tell it to play music it responds "playing a YouTube mix on YouTube music" and it starts playing random music like generic YouTube content music and Disney theme songs. Neither of these have ever been in my YouTube music playlist.

It's frustrating when your smart devices suddenly stop behaving as expected. In the case of your Google Nest Hub and its integration with YouTube Music, here are some steps you can take to address the issue:

  1. Check Voice Commands: Ensure that you are using the correct voice command. In this case, "Play YouTube Music" should work as expected, but sometimes minor variations can lead to different results.

  2. Account Sync: Confirm that your Google Nest Hub is synced with the correct Google account, which should be the same account associated with your YouTube Music subscription and playlists.

  3. Check Default Music Service: Your Nest Hub might have defaulted to a different music service. To set YouTube Music as your default music service:

    • Open the Google Home app on your smartphone.
    • Tap on your Nest Hub device.
    • Under "Device settings," tap on "Music."
    • Select "YouTube Music" as the default music service.
  4. Update Google Assistant: Ensure that Google Assistant is updated to the latest version on your Nest Hub. Sometimes, outdated software can lead to unexpected behavior.

  5. Clear Cache: Occasionally, clearing the cache for the Google Home app can help resolve issues. Go to your phone's app settings, find the Google Home app, and clear its cache.

  6. Reset Nest Hub: If none of the above steps work, consider resetting your Google Nest Hub to factory settings and setting it up again. This should be a last resort, as it will erase all custom settings and configurations.

  7. Contact Support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, consider contacting Google Nest Hub support for further assistance. They may be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or insights into the problem.

It's possible that changes or updates in the integration between Google Assistant and YouTube Music have caused the issue you're experiencing. By going through these steps, you can hopefully get your Nest Hub back to playing your personalized YouTube Music playlists as it used to.

Hello,

Setting YTM as the default music provider on my Hub does not appear as an option when opening up Settings.
