Google nest mesh point not reaching far enough

Hello,

I have the Google nest system set up with my modem, etc. which is at the very back of the house (I only have one phone point). I have a router both upstairs and the garage which has worked well for years. However, I have just had a Eufy security camera installed, and the signal doesn’t quite reach. Is there a product I can get to replace the router in the garage without having to replace the entire existing system? Is there such thing as a “stronger” router that is more likely to reach? Pardon my ignorance, I’m useless with stuff like this 🙈

Hi  @TarynJ

I would first try some things to improve coverage / performance:

How to improve Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi, or Google Wifi speed and performance - Google Nest Help

One thing that's not explicitly stated is you should aim to place your primary Wifi point as close as possible to the centre of your home. That's because the Google Wifi and Nest Wifi mesh system uses a fewest hops approach. If one of your secondary points can get even a weak connection to your primary Wifi point, it will do that instead of going through an intermediary Wifi point that may physically be closer. That's why not installing them in a straight line, and placing your primary Wifi point close to the centre of your home really helps, along with all the other guidance in that article above. If you still experience issues after that, you can consider extra Wifi points (though not more than 5) or look at hardwiring all your Wifi points.

Hardwire Wifi devices with Ethernet - Google Nest Help

If you decide you want to try additional Wifi points, the problem you will have is Google no longer directly sells Google Wifi or Nest Wifi. You may be able to find those available from third party retailers but you need to be certain they are manufactured for the same couuntry as the ones you already have. Google do sell Nest Wifi Pro directly, but that is only compatible with other Nest WIfi Pro units.
