Hmmm something went wrong

Susquatch
Community Member

Quite recently, our google nest mini has started to talk out of nowhere without any command from us. We didn't even mention the word google. It always says, "Hmmm, something went wrong. Try again in a few seconds.". This is a new problem in the last month or so. It didn't happen before that.

What has changed?

Are we the only ones with this problem?

How do we fix it?

Generally, we like our mini. It plays relatively good music, answers random questions, wakes us up, gives us reminders, tells us the news and weather, and turns on and off lights and lamps.

Hi @Susquatch

I think a full factory reset may help. See Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays - Google Nest Help

That's my go to when things get crazy with my device. Seems to a reliable fix for most things.

A full reset might help but I'd like to try other approaches first. Resets don't usually go well for me. We have too many smart devices and settings that will get lost. To be honest, if it comes down to that, Id prefer to just live with Google's constant confusion.

@Susquatch, thanks for posting. This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Have you tried the step JillG provided? If so, how did it go? If you're still in need of any assistance, feel free to let us know.

See above answer to JillG. I don't want to do a reset if it can be avoided.

I was actually hoping I'd get an answer more like "Yes, there is a problem that is the result of update x.xx.xx We are working on a solution that will be released in the near future.

If that isn't the case, I think I'll just live with it for now.
