Household routine announcements refuse to play on all devices

CrazyPotato

I have a Nest Mini (2nd gen) and Nest Audio.

In Automations, Household routines, I have this task to announce the time to everyone.

  1. Starters:
    06:45 - Weekdays
  2. Actions:
Announce to household "It is 6:45 AM already. Blah blah blah"
    (All home devices in xxx)
  3. Device for audio: No device for audio.
  4. However, when the routine is run, only 1 speaker plays the audio
    1. If I change 'All home devices in XX' to 'Living Room speaker', it plays from Living room speaker.
    2. If I change 'All home devices in XX' to 'Bed Room speaker', it plays from Bed room speaker.
    3. If I check both boxes, it plays from Bed room speaker.
    4. If I check All home devices in XX (includes devices added later), it plays from Bed room speaker.
  5. If I create 2 separate actions to play the message on each speaker, they will play the message one after another.

This used to work fine (having 2 speakers broadcast the same message at the same time) but a recent update broke this functionality a few weeks ago.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have rebooted both speakers and recreated a routine to test but it still plays on one speaker only. Tested streaming spotify to speaker group and both speakers play the music together (probably unrelated).

Hi CrazyPotato,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. Is it working when you broadcast using voice command? Try the factory reset. This erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out this link for more information about it.

Regards,

Juni
