How to expose alarms in google speakers to other services?

Hey everyone!

I’ll start by stating that I, like many others, use not just google home for my routines and automations, but also other services and products. Many of you will be familiar with home assistant, I personally use openHAB, which is a software provided by a German software foundation.

regardless, what I’m trying to do it to expose all of the alarms and other information, from a google speaker (e.g.: morning alarm, timer and name), onto other platforms, like home assistant and openHAB. This would allow me to create automations based on the alarm set in each speaker - I can do this with Alexa right now, but not with google.

Alternatively, I could also do with a routine or automation that starts with a negative offset. For example: alarm at 09, but, increase brightness from 0 to 50% starting at 08h30. But this would prevent me from creating logic on the openHAB/home assistant side.

Anyone has any idea? Or, can google look into this possibility?

cheers!

Hi PedroLiberal,

We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us.  We're always looking for ways to improve. I'd suggest you submit feedback about it, here's how.

Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Hi Juni! Thank you for your reply 🙂 I’d like to provide feedback regarding that feedback process first 🙂 it is in fact very impersonal and lackluster, and does not motivate me to keep providing feedback that way at all. For months I provided feedback (directly in the iOS app, and by the verbal process described in your link as well.).

But I never got back an answer. Years have since gone past.

Now, I can understand that at google different teams employ different processes. That’s cool. But even google maps sends emails thanking users when they correct the map, with a couple of stats that your changes brought about. Sometimes, it takes months. But, when i get the email I feel like it mattered. I can understand that replying to each one individually is too much. But, cmon…. Something.

That aside, don’t google home devs/support check these forums?

Well, tomorrow I’ll try reading my post out loud to my speakers… maybe this time I’ll get some feedback? 🙂

Wish you a great day! Stay safe!

Updated: the speaker stops listening in the middle of me reading the post above. So there’s a limit to how long a feedback can be 🙂 so I guess the feedback function is not sufficient for detailed / long feedback. How does google propose to handle complex suggestions?

Hi there,

Thanks for the information. You can use the Google Home app feedback, too so you can provide every detail that you want. You can even add a screenshot. Check the steps below.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Tap Feedback and then tap the type of device you'd like to submit feedback for.
  4. To display available emails, in the "From:" section, tap the arrow on the right. Select your email address.
  5. In the feedback summary, write a brief description of your issue.
  6. Be sure to check the box for Screenshot and System logs.
  7. To submit feedback, at the top right corner, tap Send .

Note:  Please be advised that this thread will be locked after 24 hours. If you need help you can create a new thread so we can help you here in Community.
