How to get a specific command from a specific device

Hi, Ive recently bought 2 smart IR which connect to 2 of my aircons, 1 in my living room and 1 in my bedroom.

When I ask google to "Turn On The Aircon" In my bedroom it turns on the aircon for my bedroom but aslo turns on the living room aircon aswell.

These 2 devices are seperated in the google home app as 1 speaker in the bedroom with 1 aircon and 1 display in the living room with 1 aircon.

How am I able to turn on only the bedroom aircon witht the bedroom speaker, and only the living room aircon with the living room speaker?

It's not possible to assign or pair a specific speaker/display to a certain device.

You need to think of the Assistant as listening from all rooms simultaneously; it will react and respond from whichever speaker and/or display that heard the command.  If you want the Assistant to turn on the bedroom air conditioner, then your query should include the room name.  Another option is to create separate names (e.g., Window AC, Central AC, Mini-Split, etc.) for same device types, this will help the Assistant differentiate which device you are asking it control.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, DWB1973.

syd2, thanks for reaching out. Here are some ways to talk with Google Assistant on Google Home to control plugs or switches.

Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google", then...

  • "Turn on the [switch name]."
  • "Turn off the [switch name]."

Check out this link for more information about it.
