How to set schedule as priority for Home?

If I manually set the Thermostat, then go out ("I'm Leaving" routine). When I return ("I'm Home" routine) the Nest reverts to the manual setting, not the applicable Schedule mode. How do I change priority? Also, I seem to have to announce I'm Home rather than the Nest using presence detection.
