I am installing a Google Nest. In the Google Home setup, I got the following message:

Location Access - Location access is needed to detect nearby Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals and determine your location during your home and device setup process.

I don't live at the location that am installing it at. Do I have to be at the installation location to set up the Wi-Fi.

@KVenetis

My understanding is that you need to be on the same Wi-Fi network in order to install Google Nest products, though Google Nest does not seem to document this explicitly.

The replies on this thread say you cannot add a Nest thermostat remotely:

Hi folks,

@MplsCustomer, thanks for the help.

@KVenetis, Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Which Nest device are you trying to set up? You need to be at the installation location to set up any Nest device. Check these helpful links for setting up Nest speakers and Nest WiFi

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Jun
