In and out of Preview alternating days

Google Home on my Pixel phone goes in and out of Preview status on alternating days - especially noticeable now because I only see my Nest Projects when Preview is active. No change on my end, and when I check the Settings under Public Preview the only option is always Leave Preview. What's going on? Is this a bug in Google Home, or is Google messing with it on a daily basis?

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're experiencing some inconveniences with the Google Home app on your mobile device.

To better understand the reason why this is happening, please confirm the information below:

  • Make sure the Google Home app is up-to-date.
    To check how to update the Google Home app, refer to Update the Google Home app.
  • Force close the Google Home app, then reopen it.
  • Tap the account profile (your profile photo or initial).
  • Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to the Google Home app. To switch accounts, tap the drop-down menu > select another account or Add another account.

I've been keeping the Google Home app up to date. That didn't help with the problem, except that when there was a new update available, installing it would kick the app back into Preview mode temporarily. But the app has been stable in Preview mode for 3 days now, so maybe the issue is resolved?

Spoke too soon - the Google Home app spontaneously lost Preview mode again this morning. As always, the app Settings still showed that Public Preview was enabled. This time I was able to restore Preview mode by switching to another Google account, restarting the app, and then switching back to the normal Google account.
