Lightbulb not connecting to Home App

Addiekern

I have a Cync by GE lightbulb that I just got to wake me up in the morning. I bought it at target, took it home and connected it to my system, and it worked great for a week. Then, last night, it stopped turning on. My Hub couldn't connect to it and neither could my phone. I turned it off and on from the plug and the lightbulb lit up, so the lightbulb was fine on its own and at this point I thought the lightbulb wasn't connecting to the wifi. I left it for the night and thought I'd try again later. Tonight, I tried to connect and my Google home app still wasn't finding anything to connect to. The help page said to delete the device from the home app to hard reset it, so I did. No dice. Not helpful and now the device isn't even a ghost on my machine. I tried to do the off for two seconds on for eight seconds 5x trick. Did that twice, and still nothing on Google home. Downloaded the Cync by GE app, tried to connect, and it works fine through there, so Bluetooth/wifi is NOT the problem!

TLDR: The light is fine. My communication with Google products is the problem! How do I fix this, I thought this lightbulb was made to work with Google products..

Hey Addiekern,

We're to hear that you're having a problem controlling your Cync by GE lights — let's see what's going on.

Were there any changes to your network and set up before it happened? Can you still see your lights on the Google Home app as a new device ready to be set up?

Give these steps a try:

  • Uninstall your Google Home app.
  • Reset your lights once more using the steps here.
  • Don't use your Cync app, use the Google Home app instead in setting up your lights.
  • Try rebooting your Google Home and router to refresh the connection.
  • If the issue persists, try resetting your Google Home to its default settings.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi! I reset both my Google Home and my lightbulbs and ultimately that has not helped. My lightbulb also came in a two pack, so I tried using the second lightbulb, but while this one does initially show up on my screen and blink when I click on it, after I name the light and try to set it up, I get stuck on the "Setting up your light..." screen and then I get the "Something went wrong" screen. I will try to reset my router, and then to factory settings if that doesn't work
