Lutron Homeworks and Google Home

krisbaritt
Community Member

I have a Lutron Homeworks installed at our home and have 175+ Lutron Switches and Blinds on the system.  I did not realize this but it appears there is a limit of 100 devices  (see top of page 9).

My plan was to have Home Hubs throughout the house so that you could control the different rooms with them and all the devices in them.  I wanted to see if anyone has encountered this and if there is a work around for this?

I have spoken to Lutron and they claim this is a Google constraint.

Hey krisbaritt,

Thanks for reaching out — let's check this out.

Smart partners like Lutron are the ones who decide on what or how many devices can be used and integrate to the Google assistant. You may try to add a member or create a new account so that you can add your remaining Lutron devices. Check this guide for more information.

Alex

There might be a little finger pointing on here, because when I spoke with Lutron they said it was Google that implemented the limit.

I looked at the guide but it did not really explain the steps you are referring to.  The way that the integration works today is that you go into the Lutron app and click on integrations and then you have to select the lights you want to import inside the Lutron App and then they appear.

Are you saying I should create another user for my Lutron Account and then try it again?

Not sure I am following, would appreciate any help on this.

Hey krisbaritt,

Sorry for the confusion. To confirm, can you control all your Lutron devices on the native app? Try these steps in linking your Lutron account:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top left, tap Add > Set up device > Works with Google.
  3. Select the manufacturer of the device from the list.
  4. Follow the in-app steps to complete linking.

Important: The URL portal used to link partners in the Google Home app is managed by the partner themselves. Issues encountered when linking a partner (home control) should be directed to that home automation partner for support. Partners are expected to support the integration of their products with Google Nest and Home devices. For additional information on how to control smart home devices, visit this link.

Thanks,

Alex

This did not resolve the problem and am still capped at the 100 devices

Hey krisbaritt,

We're sorry if this has been difficult for you. As we mentioned, the partner app is the one deciding and controlling on how many devices you can control through voice using any Google Assistant or smart speakers, it's best to contact Lutron support for assistance. We appreciate your patience. Let us if you need assistance with your Google Home device as I'll be locking this thread in 24 hours.

Best,

Alex
