My Nest Video Doorbell no longer shows video on my Nest Hub v2 when someone presses it

Similar to this thread I'm having the same issue. When someone rings the doorbell, I hear the chime but there is no video on my Nest Hub v2 to show me who it is.

When I first set it up, it worked as expected. This behaviour has happened in the past week and I can't see any way to fix it. I've looked at all the settings and tried to find answers on forums.

Can anyone help? Is this perhaps one of the casualties of recent Google up(down)grades?

It seems ridiculous as this is one of the basic levels of functionality I wanted from my doorbell, i.e. to see who's there!!

Please help...!

Note: I also get notifications through to my phone and can also see the live video and video that's been recorded.

Note: I have the battery powered doorbell, not mains powered. It's got plenty of charge (usually I dismount it to charge every couple of weeks)

When I first set up my Nest doorbell

Hi daveypea,

I’m sorry to hear the trouble you’re having with the visitor announcement on your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen. Let’s troubleshoot your device. Open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen > Settings > Remove device > Remove. Within the Devices tab, scroll down and choose your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen. Add it back to a room. Then, command it to “Turn off Do not disturb.” Once done, reboot your doorbell and Google Nest Hub 2nd gen, and ring the doorbell. Let me know how it goes.

Alex

Hi. No that didn't work.

It did let me turn off 'Do Not Disturb'.

I rang the doorbell. It just says "Someone's at the door" but it refuses to show the live camera footage from the Nest doorbell.

Hi there,

Thanks for taking those steps. Let’s try a few more troubleshooting steps.

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap your battery doorbell > Settings > Doorbell > Visitor announcement. Toggle it off and on.
  • Reboot your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen, and then ring the doorbell.
  • If the issue persists, perform a factory reset on your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen.

Keep us posted.

Regards,
Alex
