Nest Cam motion cannot used as trigger in Google Home automations

Dear community,

I've just stumbled upon this post by @Clockwork81 quoting that a motion detection of a Nest cam can trigger a Google home automation/routine (while a people detection cannot).

I was trying for quite a while to use motion (not people) detection, but repeatedly failed. Neither via Android app of Google Home, nor via the web interface at home.google.com (not via GUI, nor via new script editor) a motion detection is selectable for the Nest camera as trigger at all.

As I use philips hue with several motion sensors they are shown as potential triggers in the menues, while the Nest cam is not. Hint: I am using the Nest camera (outdoor) battery and have the latest Google home app (beta) installed.

Would be really glad to get this setup, as it could help showing me someone outside, by turning on any of my lights inside (or outside), so any hint is highly appreciated!

The option to use Nest cams (as device) & motion (starter) briefly appeared in Home app (I've been running it in Public Preview mode) a few months back. I still have the routine I created to have one of my nest outdoor cams turn on a set of flood lights outdoors when motion was activated at night. However, right around the time Google killed the Nest Secure

security system to replace it with their partnership with ADT for home security is about when it disappeared. I suspect they may have pulled the ability to use nest cams as starters promotion because this would steer away potential sales from the new ADT home security system they've partnered up with. JMHO
