Nest Camera Floodlight Proximity Sensor

Hi Nest Community,

I recently installed the Nest Cam with Floodlight (wired) on my front porch…we live on a busy road, so I put the sensitivity to low and lowered the lumens. I have also created a zone just on my front porch…however…when I go to set ‘what turns on my floodlight’ I have turned off ‘Motion’ and ‘Live Viewing’ and only selected ‘Camera events’ to be on. I was hoping I could only have the floodlights come on when someone is in my zone…but instead it still turns on anytime someone walks past on the pavement (which is not in the zone but picked up by the proximity sensor). Any thoughts on how to disable it? Or should I just put tape over it for now?! All feedback welcome!

Hey Springbok1995,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you tell us how often it happens? If possible, send us a screenshot of your Activity zone so we can take a closer look.

Best,

Archie

Hi @janthadeus @aatienza thanks for responding. I have actually disabled the floodlight from turning on at all now because it was happening anytime anyone walked along the pavement. I have attached a picture of the zone I created. The zone alerting works well…it’s just the proximity sensor is too sensitive even on the lowest level for my front area (so it seems).

Hey there,

I’m sorry for the delay. Thanks for your efforts and sharing the screenshot with us. Creating an Activity Zone won’t keep the lights off outside its zone because the light will turn on when it senses a motion. To learn more, have a look at this guide: Change floodlight settings.
