Nest Floodlight Issues

Help! I have been using Nest cameras and the nest app for years. I recently added a floodlight to my list of devices. What a nightmare! I am really hoping this is user error and someone can tell me how to get the floodlight detected on my nest app.

1- So far, I can only view my camera on a Google home app the customer support team asked me to download, This Google Home is nowhere near as good as Nest app., 90% less functionality and clunky to navigate.  I am hoping there is a way to get the floodlight to show up in Nest App.

2- I have Nest Aware 1st Gen subscription and it works and records events on my Nest app for my other devices for 30 days. I had to buy a different subscription for my flood light through the Google Home app and it only saves events for 24 hours on the Google Home app. Is there a way to save events for more than 24 hours on the floodlight?

Does the Nest app really only work for 1st generation? Google hasn’t upgraded it to detect newer generation devices?

Nest Cam with Floodlight requires the Google Home app, it cannot be added to the Nest app I'm afraid.

What you get with a subscription differs between 1st and 2nd gen. With a 1st gen subscription you could choose between 5, 10, or 30-day continuous video history per camera. For the newer cameras that require a 2nd gen subscription, you get 30 days of event video history with Nest Aware or 10 days of continuous video history and 60 days of event video history with Nest Aware Plus. More details below.

  • Because you have a camera with an existing 1st gen Nest Aware subscription, if you want to use the same account with your Nest Cam with Floodlight, you’ll need to migrate your account. When you migrate your account, your 1st gen Nest Aware subscription will be disabled and you can use your 2nd gen Nest Aware subscription in the Google Home app, which covers all cameras in the same home structure, regardless of whether they're setup in the Nest app or Google Home app.
  • If you want to keep your 1st gen Nest Aware subscription on your existing camera, you will need to set up your Nest Cam with Floodlight using a different Google Account. Personally, I would opt for the former, otherwise you'll have 2 separate Nest Aware subscriptions.

The Nest app supports the following cameras and doorbells:

  • Nest Cam IQ Indoor
  • Nest Cam IQ Outdoor
  • Nest Cam Indoor
  • Nest Cam Outdoor
  • Nest Dropcam (all models)
  • Nest Doorbell 1st gen (wired) also known as Nest Hello

The following newer cameras and doorbells require the Google Home app:

  • Nest Cam (wired)
  • Nest Cam with Floodlight
  • Nest Cam (battery)
  • Nest Doorbell (battery)
  • Nest Doorbell 2nd gen (wired)

Google continues to work on expanding support for the older models so they appear and work in the Google Home app.
