Nest features support in Europe: temp sensor, Matter

Hi All,

It’s my first time here, just got my Nest 3rd gen and installed it at my house in south of Poland, we have -4C today, pretty chilly 😉 Nest is managing my gas boiler Immergas Victrix 24kW, works great!  It’ wasn’t easy to install, actually, the wiring between boiler and Heat Link was a lot of confusion: didn’t cooperate at first, but it’s not Nest HL side, documentation is pretty clear; trick was to find correct connection on boiler side.

I am very impressed with Nest as a product and using experience, really top notch. I’ve designed and manufactured my own hw product at one point, I know 1st hand how hard it is, how much work it takes. Kudos, Nest team!!

I was excited to use advanced features: remote temp sensors and Matter, to talk to my iOS Home setup. First bummer was with temp sensors: I got them via a friend travelling from US to my office, and since it’s wireless, I thought it will work with any Nest. Boy, how I was wrong. I have just learned on support chat, Nest in EU does not support temp sensors and Matter either, despite big PR on Google joining Matter wagon.

I am disappointed with Google policy favoring US over other regions. I feel like 2nd class customer: no temp sensor support, no Matter support.  I am still excited and pleased using my Nest, I wish I was treated equally as US Customers. Hope it will change in a future.

Cheers,

Blazej
