Nest getting warm and incorrect temperature reading since update

Anyone else had issues with gen 3 thermostat recently?

My gen 3.4 (UK) was updated on 1st of July and since then it's been getting warm which is massively throwing off it's temperature readings. Currently reading 28c in a hallway that is 22c. Not so much of an issue right now, but in the winter I could see this completely stopping the heating from running.

Hi @RetroChap,

Thanks for reaching out to the community page. I understand your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) has been getting warm and showing incorrect temperature readings since its recent update. I appreciate the information shared. Don't worry, I'd be more than glad to assist you. To better support you, I have some questions for you:

  • What's your Nest Thermostat software version?
  • Do you have a conventional HVAC system (furnace and AC) or a heat pump system (single unit for both heating and cooling)?
  • On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is "too hot to hold" and 1 is "warm, but comfortable to hold," how hot did your Nest Thermostat get?
  • Is the incorrect reading issue continuous or under specific circumstances?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,
Jonathan
