Nest learning termostat

Hi I have a Nest learning thermostat, unfortunately 2 or 3 months ago just screen went blank. I thought just need charging, was plugged in all the time anyway so I changed socket, thought the issue is there but is not. No help. The red light on the top is flashing and nothing more. I have read here to open and try to charge straight inside for a hour and should be ok. Occasionally green light comes up and that's it. Still screen is black and can't do anything. The weather is going to change and I don't want to stay without heating 😫 can someone help please.

I’m sorry to hear that you're having issues with the Nest Learning Thermostat. Let’s check it out.

 

A blinking red light at the top of your thermostat’s display means that the battery charge is very low, but it’s being charged.

A few questions: what country are you located in? Is this a new installation? Did you notice any error codes on the display? Also, are there any recent power outages or electrical work done in the house?

 

Please try the steps below:

 

  1. Remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent.
  2. Check if the thermostat wires are secured in their terminals and all the buttons are down.
  3. Connect the thermostat display to a different micro-USB adapter and a USB charger.
  4. Leave the display plugged in for 1 hour, and then check if any light appears on the display.
  5. If the display turns on, connect the display to the base and check for any errors.
  6. If the display doesn’t turn on after charging for an hour, the battery isn’t taking a charge. 

Here’s a guide on how to troubleshoot when your thermostat won’t turn on.

Hi Lance, thank you for coming back to me. 

I'm based in U.K.

Let's start to answer for all your questions. 

We have a termostat since February, display is black, can't see anything on it. No power work etc in property.

No pins bent. All wires are fine. I don't know what buttons you are thinking of. There is one under display, looks fine to me.  I took display to the other USB port to charge, the green light was on, after 2h I tried to switch it on by pressing on the display for 10 seconds, after 7 seconds the green flashing lights became red and nothing more happened.  Still the display is black.  And it's all the time the same when im trying to switch it on. When is not in charge the red light is flashing. 

Any more advice what should I do?

Hi there @Paulina21! Thanks for the details and for trying all these steps. Could you please respond to the following set of questions too?


When was the thermostat installed?
Do you have more than one thermostat? If there's more than one thermostat do the other/s have the same issue?
Is the thermostat display on a stand?
Has there been any recent work done on your thermostat(s) or heating system? 
Were there any power outages? 
Were there any modifications to the internet configuration (for example: added extenders)?
Is the thermostat display responsive when interacting with it?

Hi there, i already answered for half of those questions above. 

Just one termostat at home. Yes it was on stand but i took it out of to charge. Nothing changed.  No work done at home. 

No responding from termostat. Just flashing red light.

Hi yes I saw the message.  Filled up the form and heard nothing back. Its cold outside and im without heating month already.  Can someone really advise me what to do please?

Can you tell me when you've filled the form?

Hi I am having the same problem with schedules v's set heating points.  I have set the schedule on the app which also sync's online.  But I found that the heating was on this morning when the schedule was off. 

Am I supposed to be setting the set heating temps on the Nests to Eco for example and then the schedule will then come on and heat to the temps set in the schedule?

Please help?

Hi Kudos, the last message I had is about the form to complete.  Which I did on Friday.  I didn't hear anything back after that. 

Last time it was exactly the same. You sent me form to complete and nothing after. 

Can you sort it out for me please.

Why every time I speak with a different person? Could be much easier if the same person deal with my problem. Always many questions but nothing to help resolve my problem. I'm really fed up. Where I can go and order the new termostat please? I have a kids at home and is cold. I wish I never agree for this termostat
