Nest mini (2) not setting up

Hello, once again I'm here after a few months with the same issue (I never resolved it in the first place). My last post did get a response but sadly it didn't work (apologies for not responding to support afterwards). Anyways my problem is that after getting an extension to our mesh wifi system (not from google) we for some reason got new wifi with it. Of course, I tried setting up my nest mini  (which worked fine beforehand) and I either end up getting "there was an error when linking your account" or "there was a problem with setting up your device (or something like that). While I think I resolved the issue with linking my account (by uninstalling the home app, revoking wifi permission to my nest, and then reinstalling it again, it still didn't set up. At this point, I'm kind of hopeless I've tried so many methods and none of them work (support already tried helping me in my previous post but that did not work) and yes I didn't alert them about it (again my mistake).

Hey Starondr,

 

Thanks for getting back to us. To further isolate this, could you try setting up your Google Nest Mini using a different phone and different network (mobile hotspot)? Also, please provide us the cast firmware version of your Nest Mini.

Hello, so I've done 3 tests. First I used a different phone (iPhone) and connected it to my hotspot from my Pixel 4a and with my secondary account. But still, it gives me an error (I'm guessing that it is the same error with a different name on ios because it occurs at the same screen as "there was an error linking your account". My second experiment was to try it with the different phone (still the iPhone) but on our wifi but still to no avail (same error).  My last hope was to use a hotspot from the iPhone but setting it up on my phone. But still no success it always fails at the "there was an error linking your account". As for the firmware version I'm not sure how to check it since, you know, I can't really connect to the nest.

Chiming in - thanks for trying those steps. To confirm, what type of account are you using (personal or business account)? Also, have you tried using a different account to further isolate the issue?

Hello, I'm using a personal account (at least I think not sure). As for if I tried a different account, I'm sorry if I didn't make this clear but when I tried to setup the mini with a different phone I used a different account also. I can try to switch accounts on my Pixel 4a but logically I doubt that it will make a difference.
