I'm trying to set up my nanoleaf lights with nest mini second generation but I can't seem to get it to work because I need a hub but from what I read the mini should act as a hub. What am I missing? They are nanoleaf essentials matter smart bulb.

Hi Rodimal,
Thanks for posting. I understand that you want to connect your Nanoleaf lights with Nest Mini second generation of the Nest Mini. Don't worry; help is here. Just to let you know, you can set up the lights with your Nest Mini without a Nest Hub.
In this case, you can check and try to set up the lights with the next steps:
After setting up the lights, you can connect them in the Google Home app by trying these steps:

Still does not work, I only see nanoleaf smarter series, and then when I link the account it says I don't have devices that are compatible. I have nanoleaf essentials series, all matter enabled devices but it won't work because I "need a matter hub" but the nest mini should work as that...I'm confused.

Hi Rodimal,
Thanks for your reply. In this case, if you check on your specifications to connect to lights and said that you need a Matter hub, I recommend contacting your lights manufacturer for further steps and support. After you set up the lights correctly with your light's app, you can let us know to assist you further with the Google Home app connection so you will be able to control the lights with your Nest Mini 2nd Gen.
Please keep me posted and let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
Jenny

My understanding is that while the Nest Mini 2 can act as a matter controller, it doesn't feature a Thread radio, so won't be able to set up those lights.
You would need one of the devices that have Thread, such as the nest hub mini 2, or nest hub max.
